Fakenham is an historic and attractive Norfolk market town half way between Norwich and Kings Lynn. It was recently voted the seventh best place to live in the country by Country Life magazine.
The town's busy Thursday market starts early in the morning and tends to last until mid-afternoon (depending on the weather). There's always a bargain to be had at Fakenham Market and the stalls are run by local traders as well as those who 'do the rounds' across the region. The Market Place is right in the centre of town, so Thursday's a good time to leave your car behind and catch a bus in and out!
The famous Fakenham Racecourse is located just on the edge of town, and with Pensthorpe Waterfowl Park with its 500 acres of nature trails, The Thursford Collection (boasting steam engines, fairground carousels and the largest Christmas Spectacular Show in England) plus the unique Museum of Gas and Local History to explore, there's plenty to see right on the doorstep.
